Apex Legends — PS5 & PS5 Pro performance

Technical analysis last updated

Performance overview

On PlayStation 5 Apex Legends runs a native next-gen client at dynamic 4K with a 60fps target, and since the 120Hz update it also offers an optional high frame-rate mode that pushes up to 120fps at a lower dynamic resolution on a 120Hz display. For a competitive shooter that second option is the one that matters: input feels markedly crisper and tracking is easier, at the cost of a softer image. PS5 Pro adds nothing on top - there is no Pro patch, so it simply runs the PS5 client. On PS4 the game targets 1080p and 60fps but drops frames in busy end-game fights.
