Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Performance overview

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a native PS5-only Unreal Engine 5 remake that leans on Lumen global illumination. Base PS5 runs a 30fps-capped mode with a dynamic internal resolution of roughly 756p to 1152p and suffers from uneven frame pacing. PS5 Pro support was poor at launch in August 2025 - Digital Foundry measured worse performance and worse image clarity than base PS5 - and was reworked in patch 1.21 (November 2025), which finally split the Pro version into a Quality and a Performance option, both reconstructed with PSSR and with the Lumen flickering fixed. Even after the patch the game is CPU-limited: whenever several enemy AI are on screen the frame rate falls into the low 40s on Pro as well. There is no 120Hz mode and no PS4 version.

Editorial summary

After patch 1.21 the Pro version finally offers a 60fps option with PSSR, but the CPU bottleneck in AI-heavy scenes still costs it a locked frame rate.

PS5 Pro support launched in a poor state (worse than base PS5) and was reworked in patch 1.21, which added separate Quality and Performance options, PSSR reconstruction and a fix for Lumen flickering.
