Gothic 1 Remake
Gothic 1 Remake is one of the weakest technical packages on PlayStation 5 right now. At launch it ran capped at 30fps on both PS5 and PS5 Pro with no performance mode at all, paired with washed-out, PS4-era textures and constant texture and shadow pop-in — problems that reproduce on high-end PC hardware too, which points at the game's core Unreal Engine 5 graphics code rather than the console. There is no dedicated PS5 Pro build: no PSSR, no ray tracing, no Pro-only mode, so the extra hardware buys you essentially nothing. Patch 1.0.2 in June 2026 finally added a choice between performance and quality modes on consoles alongside a long list of quest and stability fixes, which improves the situation but does not fix the pop-in or the low-frequency texture work; we have not yet verified the frame-rate the new performance mode actually holds. Reviewers were blunt about it, calling it one of the worst-performing PS5 games relative to its PC build. If you have the choice, the PC version is the technically sound one.
