Saros — PS5 & PS5 Pro performance

Technical analysis last updated

Performance overview

Saros ships with a single graphics mode on both consoles — an old-school choice that pays off. Both target a 3840x2160 output with dynamic resolution and both hold 60fps almost perfectly: measured at 99.8% of the frame-rate target, with only single-frame dips in the heaviest particle scenes and rare streaming hitches between procedurally stitched level blocks. On base PS5 the dynamic range runs from roughly 1080p to 1260p, reconstructed with an FSR2-style temporal pass that ghosts on floating debris and swallows some specular detail. PS5 Pro raises the base to roughly 1440p-1620p and uses PSSR 2, which resolves far more high-frequency detail on hair, textures, reflections and effects with much less trailing in motion. The Pro also gets cleaner, more stable reflections and higher-resolution shadow filtering. Both versions are excellent; the Pro is the definitive way to play, but nobody on a base PS5 is getting a compromised game.

Editorial summary

A locked 60fps arcade shooter on base hardware; only the softer FSR2-style reconstruction and the single-mode offering hold it back.
