The Finals — PS5 & PS5 Pro performance
Technical analysis last updated
The Finals offers two graphics modes on current PlayStation hardware: a standard mode targeting 60fps, and a 120Hz mode added in Season 5 (December 2024) for players with a 120Hz-capable display. In the standard mode the Unreal Engine 5 shooter combines RTXGI probe-based ray-traced global illumination with full environmental destruction, backed by dynamic resolution scaling between 1440p and 4K. Frame rate holds at 60fps for the vast majority of play, but heavy alpha effects and large-scale building destruction push it into the 50s with sustained screen tearing on PS5. PS5 Pro runs the same modes with the same feature set, so the upgrade is about consistency: Update 10.3.0 (April 2026) added PSSR 2 upscaling, which cleans up the softest moments at the bottom of the dynamic resolution range, and destruction-heavy fights hold 60fps more reliably than on base PS5. The 120Hz mode has never been measured independently, so its resolution range and sustained frame rate remain unverified.
Graphics modes on PlayStation 5 Pro
PS5 Pro runs the same two modes as PS5 — a 60fps standard mode and a 120Hz mode added in Season 5 — but stabilises them: PSSR 2 upscaling (added in Update 10.3.0) improves image clarity at the bottom of the dynamic resolution range, and destruction-heavy scenes drop below 60fps less often than on PS5. The 120Hz mode has not been independently measured on either console.
Runs the same two modes as PS5 — a 60fps standard mode and a 120Hz mode added in Season 5 — with a higher dynamic resolution floor and machine-learning upscaling. Update 10.3.0 (16 April 2026) added PSSR 2 support on PS5 Pro.
Standard Mode
PS5 ProUnverifiedRTXGI probe-based ray-traced global illumination plus screen-space reflections, as on PS5. On PS5 Pro the image is resolved through PSSR 2 instead of the base upscaler, cleaning up the softest dynamic-resolution moments.
120Hz Mode
PS5 ProEditorialSame feature set as the standard mode, resolved through PSSR 2 since Update 10.3.0. Embark has not published the resolution range used at 120Hz and no independent measurement exists yet.
Graphics modes on PlayStation 5
The PS5 version targets 60fps in its standard mode, with dynamic resolution ranging from 1440p to 4K and ray-traced global illumination. Heavy destruction physics and alpha effects trigger drops into the 50s accompanied by screen tearing. Since Season 5 (December 2024) a separate 120Hz mode is also selectable on a 120Hz display; Embark has not published its resolution range and no independent measurement of sustained frame rate in that mode exists yet.
Standard Mode
PS5UnverifiedUses RTXGI probe-based ray tracing for global illumination, SSR for reflections, and dynamic resolution scaling from 1440p to 4K.
120Hz Mode
PS5EditorialSame feature set as the standard mode, including RTXGI global illumination. Embark has not published the resolution range used at 120Hz and no independent measurement exists yet, so image quality in this mode is not verified.
PS5 vs PS5 Pro
Side-by-side comparison of graphics modes, resolution and technical features.
PS5 Pro delivers a cleaner, steadier version of the same two modes rather than exclusive options.
